Rabat to Jeddah flights: the direct flynas route explained

If you are comparing flights from abroad for a parent who lives in Rabat, Salé or Kénitra, this page sets out what is actually published about the direct route, and nothing more. Prices, seat availability and timetables change too often to print here, and we do not invent them.

The route matters for one simple reason: it lets a pilgrim from the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region fly to Saudi Arabia from the airport nearest home.

Is there a direct flight from Rabat to Jeddah?

Yes. flynas launched its Jeddah–Rabat route on 4 July 2026, and it is the first direct service by a Saudi airline between the two cities1.

For readers outside Morocco, a word on geography: Rabat-Salé airport is the airport of the capital region, and the natural departure point for families in Rabat, Salé, Témara, Skhirat and Kénitra. Before this route opened, our sources document no regular, year-round direct route from Rabat to Saudi Arabia. There were seasonal departures, though, which the next section covers.

Were there other direct flights from Rabat?

Yes, in season. For Ramadan 2023, Royal Air Maroc announced more than 61,000 seats on around a hundred flights to Jeddah and Madinah, from 7 Moroccan cities including Rabat6. The source does not say how many of those flights left from Rabat, and we have found no Royal Air Maroc programme from Rabat for the coming Ramadan.

Hajj also has its own flights from Rabat-Salé7. They are arranged by the pilgrimage organisation, not booked by the family, and are not a year-round route: the season-by-season figures are on our page on Hajj from Rabat-Salé airport. For an Umrah trip outside those seasons, flynas is the direct option our sources document.

Jeddah is the gateway city for Makkah, so the route suits a trip that begins in Makkah and, if the programme includes it, continues to Madinah afterwards.

How often does it fly?

The route opened with 1 flight a week1. According to Wego, flynas planned to raise that to 2 flights a week from 19 August 20262.

That second figure comes from a travel site reporting the plan, not from a flynas timetable we have seen. We therefore present it as announced, not as confirmed, and we do not know whether the frequency has changed since.

Low frequency has practical consequences for an Umrah trip:

  • The length of the stay follows the flight days. If the plane flies on two fixed days, the stay will be a multiple of those gaps, whatever the family had in mind.
  • A missed or cancelled flight cannot be replaced by the next one a few hours later. Ask the airline what it offers in that case before you book.
  • Return seats near the busiest weeks of the season can be the hardest part of the plan. Book the return at the same time as the outbound flight.

We never print the weekdays or departure times on this site, because they are not in our sources and they change between seasons. The only reliable answer is flynas itself, on its website or in its app.

What if the Rabat flight days do not suit you?

The fallback in our sources means a road trip to Casablanca. flynas also flies between Jeddah and Casablanca, a route it has run since 20231, and Royal Air Maroc sells Casablanca–Jeddah and Casablanca–Madinah flights, according to the Royal Air Maroc website5.

This site does not cover the trip to Casablanca, and we do not rank the two airports: which one suits your parents depends on where they live and how they travel.

How do you get on to Madinah?

From Rabat, the direct route lands in Jeddah. Two ways on to Madinah appear in our sources.

By train from Jeddah airport

The Haramain High Speed Railway is an electrified line of about 450 km linking Makkah and Madinah, with an operating speed of 300 km/h3. It has 5 stations: Makkah, Jeddah, King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, King Abdullah Economic City and Madinah3.

The airport station is the useful detail for a family: a pilgrim landing in Jeddah can, in principle, continue to Madinah by rail without first going into the city3. Ticket prices, timetables and how far the station is from the arrivals hall are not in our sources, so check them before the day, particularly for a parent who walks slowly.

By flying to Madinah from Casablanca

Royal Air Maroc sells Casablanca–Madinah flights, according to the Royal Air Maroc website5. For a family in the Rabat region, that means starting the trip from Casablanca rather than Rabat-Salé.

Whether to begin in Makkah or in Madinah is a separate question, and the answer depends on the group's programme and the pilgrim's health. We only cover the journey here.

Before paying for a Rabat–Jeddah ticket

Step by step

  1. Ask flynas for the flight days and times on your dates, in both directions.
  2. Ask what baggage allowance applies on the Rabat route: we have not found it published.
  3. If your parent needs help at the airport, a wheelchair or a seat near the front, ask the airline how to request it when you book.
  4. Book the return together with the outbound flight, leaving a margin before the end of the season.
  5. Plan the trip to and from Rabat-Salé airport: shuttle bus, app-booked taxi or a relative's car.
  6. If the trip includes Madinah, decide now whether your parent will take the train from Jeddah airport or fly from Casablanca.

The season's official dates, the health documents and the airport transport are set out in our family guide to leaving for Umrah from Rabat-Salé airport. Getting to the terminal, and home again afterwards, has its own page: getting to Rabat-Salé airport. For the national picture, including the Casablanca routes, see voyageomra.ma's overview of Umrah flights from Morocco.

If you hear that the route is linked to the Makkah Route, note that this service is for Hajj pilgrims only; our page on Hajj from Rabat-Salé airport explains why.

Still to be confirmed

  • The weekdays and departure times of the Rabat–Jeddah flights.
  • Whether the announced second weekly flight started as planned, and how many flights operate today.
  • The baggage allowance on the route.
  • Whether any other airline runs a regular direct route between Rabat-Salé and Saudi Arabia.
  • Whether Royal Air Maroc will run seasonal departures from Rabat for the coming Ramadan.
  • Fares, which change with dates and demand and are not covered on this site.
  • Timetables and ticket prices of the Haramain train from Jeddah airport.
